Luxury perfume – The reflections of the bottle appear like those of the Aurora borealis
Problem:
Create the classic “Aurora Borealis” effect on a glass bottle
The path initially taken, as per practice, was to use the metallization technique.
However, after various production batches, we became aware of numerous problems, including:
- the high processing costs
- the numerous wastes
- 3. the imperfections of the final product due to the multiple steps required by the metallization process
At this point, in collaboration with the customer, we decided to revolutionize our approach and the production process to try to optimize it as best as possible.
Solution:
Painting instead of metallizing the bottle, still obtaining: the “aurora borealis” effect, the brightness and uniqueness typical of diamonds.
Initially, in the first tests, we introduced iridescent pigments into the paint, but they did not provide the desired color tone.
Subsequently, we used pearlescent pigments, of different shades, which allowed us to achieve the final color, but not the desired brilliance and uniqueness.
Finally, we adopted an innovative technique: iridescent holographic painting, a technique that creates a multi-color gradient on the glass, reflecting light in a similar way to an authentic “Aurora borealis”.
This solution allowed a significant reduction in costs and waste, stabilizing the production of bottles according to customer specifications and maintaining a very high quality product.
NOVELTY:
The iridescent holographic paintwork represents a significant innovation, as it was developed and implemented by us at Indeco specifically for this product.
After the notable success achieved, we proposed this technique as an alternative to “aurora borealis” metallization for all our customers.
We have already received numerous requests, including from highly relevant customers, interested in developing the technique on various items: bottles, lip gloss, transparent mascaras and other products.
